Jean JonesJean Jones, R.N., J.D.

Jean Jones brings the knowledge and experience gained in eleven years of active critical care nursing practice, including a Master's Degree in Cardiovascular Nursing, to her evaluation and preparation of medical malpractice cases. Ms. Jones has 20 years experience representing hospitals, HMO's, nursing homes, doctors and nurses in defense of medical negligence claims brought against them. Her nursing background and experience working with health care providers and their insurers gives her a unique perspective concerning the prosecuting and settling of medical negligence claims brought on behalf of seriously injured patients.

Ms. Jones became licensed as a Registered Nurse in 1972. She spent the next eleven years working in critical care and coronary care units as a nurse. After earning her law degree, Ms. Jones had an active trial practice at several large law firms, in which she focused almost exclusively on the defense of all types of medical negligence actions. Five years ago, Ms. Jones decided to use her knowledge and experience on behalf of injured patients, and joined the Medlaw Legal Team.

Throughout her legal career, Ms. Jones has lectured extensively on medical-legal issues to health care practitioners and to other lawyers. She is a member of The American Association of Nurse Attorneys, and the Maryland, District of Columbia, and American Bar Associations. She is also a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association. She is a member of the Bars of Maryland, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the District of Columbia, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, The United States Courts of Appeal for the Second and Fourth Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court. Ms. Jones co-authored the Chapter €œLegal Issues and Life Care Planning for Neuroscience Patients: found in Barker E., Neuroscience Nursing: A Spectrum of Care, 3d ed., Mosby, 2008.

Notably, Ms. Jones performs pro bono work for veterans before the United States Court of Appeals for Veteran's Claims in the District of Columbia.
